WHAT IS INDEPENDENTS WEEK?
Although every week at Sherry's YesterDaze is like Independents Week, the week of July 1st- 7th will be extra-specially Independent. The Tampa Independent Business Alliance (TIBA) started Independents Week in 2001 and it has since taken hold nationwide! We urge you to shop (and eat and drink) independent and support your local merchants. Making it even easier to do so, you will be able to enter a drawing to win thousands of dollars of gift certificates and products from participating merchants - just look for the box at YesterDaze and other participating shops around town.

You may have heard this before, but it bears repeating: Studies confirm that supporting local independent businesses is the best choice to insure the economic future of local communities. Neighborhood stores and restaurants generate more than three times the local economic activity of remotely controlled national chains, where up to 80% of the money you spend leaves town in the night deposit. Local independent businesses circulate the money right here, for local goods and services from banking and health care to printing and cabinetmaking.

Each time you choose to spend your dollars at a local, independent business, you are voting for the continued strength and vitality of our community. Tampa's vibrant local independent businesses meet unique needs, create and define our community's culture, and provide stability, accountability, and direct local investment.

We ask that you be conscious of the long-term effect of your spending choices. The shopping decisions you make today have a ripple effect on our local and regional economy. Let's all make sure we keep the Tampa area thriving.
