Frequently Asked Questions
What are your candles made of?
We use premim quality gel, soy, beeswax and paraffins as well as cream waxes to produce our candles. Gels can only be used in containers. Soy can be used in pillars and containers. Paraffins are used for pillars and votives as well as floaters. Beeswax is also available for making pillars and container candles. Gel, as well as the paraffin, cream and soy wax is colored throughout, then mixed with high-quality scent specifically formulated for burning in candles. Beeswax is typically left unscented as the natural scent of beeswax is so delightful on its own.
What sort of wick do you use?
We use long-burning wicks. These are typically zinc-core wicks and pose no known health risk when burned properly. Reports of health hazards came from wicks containing lead, which have not been used in candlemaking since 1974.
I bought a candle in a jar, and used it up. Will you refill it?
Any container designed to hold a burning candle can be refilled with a colored and scented candle of your choice. We ask for 48 hours to complete refill orders. Prices vary according to the size of the container.
I have a special event coming up and I want to use candles in the decorations. What should I know?
Check with the location where your event will be held, and ask to see a copy of their fire and safety regulations. State fire regulations can be found at the Division of State Fire Marshal - Bureau of Fire Prevention Website. Always burn candles safely. We would be happy to work with your florist or decorator to ensure that everything meets established safety guidelines.

Candle Burning Information
In order to keep your candle from dripping or loosing it's shape there are some tips
that will make sure you enjoy your candle.
- First, always burn your candle for about two to three hours the first time and then blow
it out. This will create a pool that will create a direction for your candle to burn.
- Regardless of the quality of wax or the construction of your candle, any draft including
that of an air conditioner can distort the burn of any candle and make it drip. To avoid
this, gently "hug" your candle after the initial burn at the top to reshape the candle.
This can also be done while the candle is burning so long as care is taken not to touch
the flame and please do not allow children to burn any candle without adult supervision.
- After each burn please trim your wick to about the length of a grain before you relight
your candle.
- Always use a heat resistant base to burn your candle on unless they are a container
candle.
- Our Votives are meant to burn in votive container. Do not just sit a votive on any surface
to burn. Not only are you creating a fire hazard but your votive will drip and your votive
will burn only a about half and hour instead of 15 plus hours.
- Floating candles are a bit different in that the will burn for approximately two to three
hours versus our pillars that will burn for 30 hours and up.
- Since our candles are so highly scented, we recommend taking your leftover wax after
you are done with the candle and place in a drawer of closet to give a fresh and clean
scent to your garments. Use a little piece of cheesecloth or some other container to avoid
any wax melting in the drawer and potentially ruining your garments.
We have purchased candles from all over the world and from some of the candle
companies that claim their candles do not drip. We have found that if you do not
take these steps, ANY candle may burn improperly and not provide the pleasurable
experience that burning a scented candle should provide.
We hope these tips will help our customers and please remember that you can contact us
with questions any time at www.candlesasart.com.
Please, If you choose to burn your Candles as Art candles, remove the embellishments
to avoid any fire hazard.
